Where I've Studied

January 2001- December 2007

Ed.S. University of Central Florida (UCF)

The Curriculum and Instruction degree provided me the knowledge and experience to address teacher empowerment and leadership in the expanded roles and responsibilities of being a senior administrator in the school setting, including data-driven assessment for school improvement, professional learning communities, applying research to practice, improving instruction and student learning outcomes, and collaboration with families and communities.

January 1993 - December 1998

M.A. Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS)

A hallmark of The William Davidson School’s master’s curriculum was the yearlong practicum where I participated in a customized field placement at a partnering school in the NY metropolitan area. The practicum consisted of 16 hours of field work per week, individual mentoring, and a weekly seminar—specific to the Pedagogy and Teaching concentration—where students reflected and built upon their experience with their instructor and peers.

September 1987 - May 1991

B.A. Rutgers University

Pursuing a degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Science provided me the opportunity to explore how natural languages are learned, understood, and used by humans. The focus of this degree was on how to prevent, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders. This background served as my foundation to the study of language and speech disorders, because the research opportunities, familiarization with core linguistic theory, and related coursework in the speech and hearing sciences uniquely prepared me for success in my future career as an educator.

September 2017 - December 2018

Superintendent Certification Program
University of Texas Tyler (UTT)

Having the opportunity to participate in this senior administrator preparation program was an enlightening experience. School leaders in the public schools are challenged to provide new educational opportunities for all students while solving critical problems that face our society. The rapid growth and shifting demographics of the Texas student population and variation in the local Texas economies accentuate the need to embrace diversity and promote leadership opportunities for our best and brightest students and employees. Educational opportunities for students lie with the schools, and the effectiveness of these schools may depend largely on the educational leadership developed in programs like this.
